The University of Nairobi is proud of its distinguished record of achievements in teaching, research, development and consultancy while strategizing for a greater future as the centre of academic, research and professional excellence.

The Faculty of Business and Management Sciences dates to 1957 as a department in the Royal Technical College which was inaugurated in 1956. The faculty had special academic and professional relationship with the University of London between 1961 and 1965. The faculty now has a student body of over 13,000 with two satellite campuses in Mombasa starting in 2004 and Kisumu 2008. It is the leading Business Faculty in the Eastern African region attracting students from neighbouring countries with large Alumni found at both public and private sectors of Kenya, the region and in Africa.

FINANCIAL MODELLING

University of Nairobi, a premier university in Kenya and Africa is delighted to offer this important training. The training is designed to help participants carry out financial modelling in Microsoft Excel environment. Financial analysis is key in a firm’s decision making. Participants will benefit from modelling financials to support future investment, financing, liquidity decisions among others. 

Training Calendar:

  • 25th – 28th March 2025. Registration deadline 14th March 2025 (50% fee deposit)

  • Logic of financial modelling
  • Quick refresher on excel environment.
  • Understand key functions and formulas in excel
  • Develop and model assumptions for forecasting income statements, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
  • Model proforma income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
  • Assess investment viability – IRR, NPV, Payback period, XNPV, XIRR
  • Incorporate sensitivity analysis
  • Build scenarios in financial models
  • Dashboards for executive decision making

Learning Method:

Participants will be expected to bring their own device installed with Microsoft excel. The training will be delivered through lectures and practical exercises. There will be a modelling project to be completed by each participant by the end of the training. The sessions will be conducted mainly in-person at University of Nairobi Towers.
