PROF. ERASMUS KAIJAGE FAREWELL LUNCHEON

The School of Business commemorated a farewell luncheon for Prof. Erasmus Kaijage who is exiting out of the service as the professor of Finance. Prof. Kaijage has successfully served at the University of Nairobi for Nine Years, before he served as the Dean of School of Business Dar es salaam University 2000 to 2006. He was earlier the Head of the Department of Finance and also Associate Dean Academic for several years in the same Faculty. He has also been Vice-Rector Academic and Acting Rector of the School of Finance and Banking, Kigali, Rwanda between 2007 and 2009. Prof. Kaijange was currently a Barclays Endowment Chair Professor at the University of Nairobi, School of Business.

Prof. Erasmus has researched widely and published in several journals and has three books including a textbook in Corporate Finance. He has taught at various universities including at the University of Dar es Salaam; Sheffield Hallam University; the School of Finance and Banking, Rwanda; at the University of Nairobi and at the University of Strasbourg, France. He has been external examiner to various universities in Africa, including University of Botswana; University of Swaziland; University of Zimbabwe; National University of Science and Technology, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe; Strathmore Business School, University of Strathmore, Nairobi, Kenya; University of Nairobi, Kenya; Kenyatta University, Kenya, Makerere University Business School, Uganda; Kigali Institute of Science, Technology and Management; Rwanda.

Erasmus is a founder member of the Association of African Business Schools (AABS) and he served as the Chairperson of the association between 2008 and 2009. Erasmus has served on several other boards which include the Jury of the Pan-African Investment Climate and Business Environment - Research Fund (ICBE-RF) managed by TrustAfrica, Dakar, Senegal ; Global Foundation of Management Education (GFME); Board of External Trade (Tanzania); Institute of Tax Administration (Tanzania); Institute of Finance Management (IFM), Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania and on a Committee of Deans Across Frontiers (DAS) of EFMD.

The Chairs of the Departments, Dean School of Business and the Deputy Principal- Prof. K’obonyo lauded Prof. Erasmus Kaijage for the success and accomplishments, he was the key influential person who contributed to the success of the PhD programs offered in the Department of Finance. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs Prof. Julius Ogeng'o thanked the Professor for the outstanding performance that enabled him to be recognized. He termed him as “the Professor” who has branded himself to reach where he is.
